charolastras are a group of experimental electronic musicians with a keen interest in ancient rituals involving dance. in many cultures from the past, music and dance were closely tied with shamanism, spirituality and even combat. these traditions continue today in some parts of the world where music isnt solely for entertainment, as is often the case in our modern western society. the group s goal is to spread a message of peace and unity with their music. this intention is evident in the blissful ethereal textures used in their mellifluous productions. but their sound can also have a harder edge that evokes conflict, not calm. this is all by design because, as charolastras like to point out, sometimes you have to fight for peace .

a renowned producer from the barcelona scene, pedro vian has taken a significant step forward in his career with the creation of modern obscure music. from this platform he is able to shape his vision of today’s electronica, releasing material from likeminded artists while creating his own sound, combining silky dance rhythms with an experimental approach and dark atmospheres. so far vian has collaborated with artists like alex trochut, ital, hieroglyphic being, sunny graves and federico sancho, among others. pedro vian is the new alter ego for pettre, who has already released tracks on hivern and for several years was one half of the duo aster, the exciting project whose house music still echoes in the eardrums of its fans. this time pedro vian presents black toms ep, a new release accompanied with inga copeland and pye corner audio reinterpretations. the publication of this record will be in mid june. cover photographs by adria cañameras

”love will remember pharaon de winter” is said at the end of the record. pharaon de winter was a painter from north of france, who lived from the end of the xixth century to the beginning of the xxth century. today, pharaon de winter is reappearing again. it’s a band, but also the name of a song, which changed everything for his author. past leader of both bands toy fight and (please), maxime chamoux was playing since now a genre between north american rock of spoon and neutral milk hotel, and sophisticated british pop from prefab sprout or xtc. we find today in this new project songs navigating between french, for most part, and english. partners and friends since a long time, thomas pirot at the drums and raphael ankierman at the bass are playing alongside fx guéant-mata at the guitar. we also find mina tindle and her delicate voice appearing here and there. at last we don’t forget the goldsmith’s talent of canadian musician sandro perri who’s joining the band, highly recommended by pitchfork magazine with his album impossible spaces in 2011.

disco club is a groundbreaking 1978 ep of experimental electronic disco created by fvre and his collaborator under their tongue-in-cheek aliases joachim sherylee and junior claristidge. the aphex twin-backed rephlex label notably reworked a handful of disco club tracks in 2004, however this is the first ever reissue of the ep in its complete, originally intended sequence. so synonymous is fvres career with this release, he continues to perform internationally as black devil disco club today. an impossibly rare piece, this edition has been treated to a remaster from the original tapes by fvre himself.
